The folks at Parallax are working on a new Intel compatible tokenizer for the Mac. I put together a new version of MacBS2 that uses the new tokenizer and am making it available on an experimental basis.

This version works best with FTDI chip based adapters and Parallax' USB Board of Education.

system requirements

  • Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) or later
  • Parallax BS2, BS2e, BS2p, BS2p40, BS2pe, or BS2sx Basic Stamp chip
  • Parallax' USB Board of Education, or an FTDI based USB-Serial adapter.

important caveats

This version of MacBS2 is a work in progress, and as such, it is incomplete and probably buggy. Here's a partial list of things that are missing.

  • No support for slots
  • No memory map
  • No built-in BASIC STAMP reference

Another thing to look out for is that you'll need to download and install the latest driver from FTDI. Unfortunately, I have experienced several kernel panics using this driver. Hopefully they'll sort it out soon.
