MacBS2 Installation

MacBS2 requires Parallax' BASIC Tokenizer to convert your source code into the bytes yor STAMP chip can understand. Fortunately, MacBS2 will try to automatically download and install the tokenizer when you run MacBS2 for the first time.
You must be logged in to your Mac as an administrator for in order for the tokenizer install to work correctly.

  1. Drag MacBS2 anywhere you like, though your Applications folder is probably a good choice.
  2. Run MacBS2. If required, MacBS2 should automatically download and install the PBASIC Tokenizer from Parallax's website. Note that if you are not running as an administrator, the automatic installation will fail.

Manual Tokenizer Installation

In case MacBS2 is unable to download and install the tokenizer, here's how to do it manually:

  1. Download the PBasic tokenizer from Parallax's website:
    http://www.parallax.com/dl/sw/tok/PbasicTokenizer.sit
Note that if you're running Tiger (Mac OS X 10.4) or later, you may not have StuffIt installed. In that case, use this link instead to download a .zip version of the same archive:
    http://www.parallax.com/dl/sw/tok/PbasicTokenizer.zip
  2. Once decompressed, you'll have a folder named "PbasicTokenizer". Inside that you'll find a "Macintosh" folder. Inside the "Macintosh" folder is a file called "tokenizer.shlb". Drag "tokenizer.shlb" to your /Library/CFMSupport folder.
  3. Run MacBS2 and verify that it can load the tokenizer.
